Explain Factors affecting the wheel selection
1. Operation condition.
2. Surface finishing.
3. Wheel speed.
4. Area of contact.
5. Severities of grinding operations.
1. Operation condition:
Wet or dry operations. In wet type of grinding it provides cooling and cleaning of work and wheel life also increased.
2. Surface finishing:
In this coarse grits are used for rapid stock removal and for moderate finishing.
Fine grits are used for high finishing and low stock removal.
3. Wheel speed:
When maximum speed used it is limited by the strength of the bond, and slower speed makes the wheel hard.
4. Area of contact:
Harder and fine wheels are used for smaller area of contact.
Softer and coarser wheels are used for larger area of contact.
5. Severities of grinding operations:
Stronger or tough abrasive is used for servo conditions.
Smooth abrasive are used for fine finishing process.
