Difference Between Metals and Nonmetals
Metals:
Metals that Occupy area or space and has mass are called metals.
Metals that are further divided into different forms to find the different properties and characteristics of metals.
Based on the characteristics features, properties, etc metals are divided into Elements, Compounds, and Mixtures.
Elements:
Element is the Fine and Purest form of substance that has no change in characteristics and properties when it cut into small pieces.
Compounds:
Compounds represent the mixture of pure substance or element with constant proportion then it is called compounds.
Mixtures:
Mixture represents the indefinite proportion of pure substance of elements then it is known as Mixture.
Difference between Metals and Non-Metals:
Metals:
Most of the metals are in the solid-state, eg: Iron, Aluminum, Copper, etc.
Metals that present in a liquid state are Gallium, Mercury, etc.
Metals contain drawing properties which are useful in manufacturing wires, sheets, etc.
Metals that contain Malleability property.
Most of the Metals are high conductors to heat and electricity.
Metals are harder than non-metals.
Metals are subjected to a good shine.
There is a high density in metals.
Metals contain a high melting point and boiling point.
Non-Metals:
Most of the non-metals are in the solid and gaseous state, eg: Carbon, Iodine, Sulphur, etc are in the solid-state. Hydrogen, oxygen, etc are in the gaseous state.
Non-Metals does not contain drawing properties.
It does not contain malleability property.
This is bad conductors to heat and electricity, but graphite is high conductivity to electricity.
Non-metals are less harder(Soft) Except diamond.
Non-metals does not contain shine.
Low density.
Melting and boiling points of non-metals are lower than metals except Carbon.
Metaloid:
Metaloid is the combination of both metals and non-metals properties.
Eg: Boron, Silicon, etc.
