Lap Winding:
- Lap winding may also be called as parallel or multiple winding system.
- Lap winding consists of starting coil and end coil, In this winding the end coil is connected to the commutator and starting coil is connected to the same pole.
- In this winding system, there is an overlap on each other sides of coils.
- In this type of winding, it may contain single or multi windings are provided.
- If there is a single winding system is used then the connections of parallel paths are in same with poles present init.
- If there is a multi-winding system is used then the connections of parallel paths are double to the poles present in it.

Wave winding system:
- The system which carries current in opposite direction is called wave winding.
- This type of system is a series winding.
- Wave winding is mostly used in high voltage machines.
- If the current in coil must flow in one direction then the connection should be in series.
