CNG – Advantages and Disadvantages

The advantages of CNG are that it is environment friendly, cheap, and easily available. However, the disadvantages are that there is no central authority in controlling the entire market of CNG.

Advantages of CNG:

1. Environmentally friendly: CNG emits 80% less CO2 and 50% less NOx than diesel.
2. CNG vehicles produce lesser emissions than those using traditional fuels
3. It also makes the vehicle fuel efficient.
4. The properties of CNG make it a safe fuel.
5. Better performance: Compared to other cars, the average fuel consumption of a CNG car is 3.3L/100km while that of a diesel car is 4.6L/100km.
6. The running of engine becomes smoother as the engine gets warmed up completely. 
7. CNG vehicles have a longer life span compared to other vehicles because they have better efficiency in terms of performance and are more cost effective when it comes to maintenance costs too

Disadvantages of CNG

1. CNG can Expand under low pressure.
2. CNG gives less milage than petrol.
3. There is a lack of power compared to petrol engines.
4. There is more danger in explosion compared to petrol.
5. It does not available every where.
6. It takes more space to storage.
