Brazing process
Brazing process: Brazing process is the process of joining the metals by using the filler metals. in this type of brazing process, the base metal does not melt, by using filler metal is used to join the different metals. Brazing can join dissimilar metals.
These joints are ductile.
This operation is economical.
In this linear joints are usually easier. after joining the metals appearance is tiny. this is used where there is no use of additional finishing. and in brazing fabricators don’t melt the base metal.
This uses a type of Capillary action.
In this filler metals are different types this depends on the application required.
Types of filler metals are:
- Copper
- Copper-silver
- Bronze
- Brass
- Aluminium-silicon
- Gold-Silver
Operations of Brazing:
It requires different types of heating methods to do this operation. Making the operation with perfect temperature is important. There are some types.
- Induction Brazing
- Dip Brazing
- Infrared Brazing
- Resistance Brazing
- Torch brazing
This type of welding has more advantages than another type of operations.
This can be protected from the coating. this produces less thermal distortion.
It has disadvantages due to the joining of the base metal is done by softer filler metal.
This filler metal is less strong.
